Become a guiding light for our customers

Deliver the service that makes us stand out

Is Claims right for you?

Serving over 25 million customers is what drives us all at Aviva – and our Claims team is right at the heart of it. The world of claims is always changing, but you can be the constant our customers rely on for support they trust. All while keeping things clear and simple.

You’ll be answering questions, solving problems, finding answers, and providing a friendly, reassuring voice when it’s needed most. Our customers come from every walk of life – and we also support businesses, from market stall traders to some of the biggest and most successful companies around.

So, if you thrive on building relationships and empathy is your superpower, there’s a lot to love about a career in Claims at Aviva.

Salary: £26,700
Duration: Permanent role from day one with two year learning programme.
Locations: Norwich

What you can expect

From day one you’ll have a permanent role in a team that makes a meaningful difference to people’s lives every day. Our Claims team plays a crucial role in supporting our customers when they need us most – and we pride ourselves on putting both our customers and our people first.

As a Claims Apprentice, you’ll be first point of contact for customers making a claim. You’ll gather the key details – what happened, the condition of their vehicle – and use this information to help you make the right decisions on liability and arrange bookings with our suppliers, so you can get our customer back to normal as quickly as possible.

Showing genuine empathy is essential. You’ll work proactively on each claim to make our customers’ lives as easy and stress free as possible. You’ll need to juggle multiple tasks, work with our digital systems, and be a calm, confident voice on the phone, making quick decisions to deliver the right outcome on every claim.

You’ll study for the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner qualification. The apprenticeship typically takes about 15-18 months to complete and is designed to give you the skills and knowledge you need to advance your career in insurance. You’ll learn about the industry – including regulation, underwriting and claims – as well as our popular insurance products, including motor, household, healthcare, and commercial insurance. 80% of your time will be hands-on in your role, and 20% dedicated to your apprenticeship studies.

Better yet, you’ll be part of a supportive team that’s committed to your growth. We believe in nurturing talent and giving you the right tools to succeed. Your colleagues will mentor you at every step, so you’ll be ready for any opportunity that comes your way.

And that’s not all. You’ll also benefit from our two-year central development programme, giving you everything you need to be a well-rounded professional.

Where you’ll be based

We have Claims Apprentice opportunities in our Norwich office.

After your training and induction period, you’ll probably balance time in the office with working from home. We call this Smart Working.

Three days in the office and two days from home every week is typical, but this will vary between teams. When you join us, your leader will take time to discuss this with you, and agree what works best for you, your team, and the business.

Even with our Smart Working approach, it’s important to note you’ll still need to live within commuting distance of your contracted office. That way you’ll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and get access to the right internal support networks to help you to succeed.

What you’ll need

To join us on a Claims apprenticeship, you’ll need at least five GCSEs at grades A*-C (9-4) or Scottish National 5’s at grades A-C, or equivalent qualifications. These must include English and Maths.

We’re also looking for strong communicators with a genuine customer focus. We believe that understanding our customers’ needs is key to delivering exceptional service. So, if you’re someone who thrives on building relationships and feels comfortable engaging with people at all levels, you’ll fit right in.

We also value problem-solvers who are eager to seek out improvements. If you’re passionate about making a difference and enjoy working collaboratively to achieve results, we’d love to see how you can contribute to our team.

In addition to meeting the above criteria, you must:

  • have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for at least three years by the start of the apprenticeship in September 2026.
  • be eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship and beyond
  • be able to commit to spend at least 50% of your working time physically in the country where your role is based. For example, if you live in Wales but apply for a role based in England, you will need to work a minimum of 50% of your working week in England
  • be available for full time work from 7 September 2026 when all our apprentice roles start.

Please note this job role isn’t sponsorable under the Home Office points based system so therefore Aviva cannot provide visa sponsorship for this programme. To apply, you’ll need indefinite right to work in the UK. If this applies to you, we’d love to hear from you.
