Technology and Change apprenticeship pathway

Shine bright. Find a career that exceeds your expectations

See where your strengths can take you

Is Technology and Change right for you?

Technology powers our business, enabling us to put our customers at the centre of everything we do – whether that’s solving problems or creating innovative new solutions.

If you’re curious and passionate about what tech can do, we’ve got a whole host of apprenticeship opportunities waiting for you. And here’s the best part: you don’t need to have studied or worked in technology to join us.

Salary: £26,700
Duration: Permanent role (from day one). Apprenticeship lengths will vary by role – details below
Locations: Norwich, York

What you can expect

From day one you’ll have a permanent role in a workplace where our people and customers come first – and where tech makes a real and meaningful difference to people’s everyday lives. We’re building more than systems – we’re designing meaningful experiences, smarter solutions, and a digitally secure tomorrow. And it doesn’t matter where you studied or where you’ve worked before – if you’re passionate and ready to learn, you’re welcome here.

You’ll join a buzzing early careers community – in fact, over 10% of our permanent Tech and Change Delivery colleagues are either on, or have come through, one of our Tech Talent Early Career Programmes. So you’ll be joining a growing network of people just like you – to connect with, learn from, and grow alongside. You’ll be making waves across the business and showing what fresh thinking can really do.

Expect real-world, hands-on experience to support what you learn during your apprenticeship studies – you’ll get to put theory into practice, see the impact of your work, and learn loads as you go.

We want you to shine. We’ll empower you to be yourself, take ownership of your work, your apprenticeship studies and your progression – and support you to be the best that you can be. Show us what you can do, and we’ll keep giving you opportunities to grow, take on responsibility and make your mark.

Our apprentices come from all walks of life and age groups. While many join straight from school or college, some are career changers looking for a fresh challenge, or returning to work after a career break. Some even join from other parts of Aviva.

What we offer all our apprentices, is the chance to earn a salary while learning invaluable new skills and gaining professional qualifications. So, wherever you are in your working life, this is a great way to build a fantastic career.

Depending on the programme, our Technology and Change Delivery apprenticeships last between 18 months and four years. We offer:

  • Level 3 Apprenticeships – are generally the equivalent to two A Levels
  • Level 4 Apprenticeships – equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree or Higher National Certificate (HNC)
  • Level 5 Apprenticeship – equivalent to a foundation degree or Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • Level 6 Apprenticeships (England) – you’ll achieve a Bachelor’s degree.

Whichever apprenticeship you choose, you’ll spend 80% of your time learning on the job, gaining real-life experience and 20% dedicated to your apprenticeship studies. You’ll have a structured learning programme, including additional professional qualifications, giving you a solid foundation to build and succeed in your career.

And that’s not all. You’ll also join our two-year central development programme, giving you everything you need to become a well-rounded professional.

Technology and Change Delivery specialisms

We’ve got lots of different apprentice roles across our Tech and Change Delivery teams – and to keep things simple, we’ve grouped them into two ‘specialisms’. All you need to do is pick the one that feels right for your skills, interests and what gets you fired up. You’ll see some of the specialisms have more than one role type available. Your application will be for the whole specialism but there will be an opportunity for you to tell us if you have a role and/or location preference.

And for most of our roles you don’t need a tech background or loads of experience to get started. Think about what you’re good at and what you enjoy most. We’ll teach you the rest.

Where you’ll be based

We have Technology and Change Delivery apprentice opportunities in our Norwich and York offices. Not all roles are available in all locations, so you might need to be flexible about where you work and be willing to relocate if you don’t currently live within commuting distance of the relevant office. You can find out more about each location by clicking the links below.

Wherever you’re based, the likelihood is you’ll balance time in the office with working from home. We call this Smart Working. Three days in the office and two days from home every week is typical, but this will vary between teams. When you join us, your leader will take time to discuss this with you, and agree what works best for you, your team, and the business.

Even with our Smart Working approach, it’s important to note you’ll still need to live within commuting distance of your contracted office. That way you’ll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and get access to the right internal support networks to help you to succeed.
